Leadership day

Leadership day

On leadership day we had some activities to do that required teamwork and communication.

My favourite activities was the planking challenge it is where you and your team have to have at least six people in your group holding a plank and the last group planking would get a treat. This required a lot of teamwork an communication because when you are tired you need to find the person in your group that has had the most time on a break and then you would swap and you would get a break. Or team everyone had to join in in this activity because it was a team activity so that means everyone has to help because we are a team.

The PLAs that we used were communication because we needed to communicate with our team to tell them that we were tired teamwork because we were all involved in the activity and resilience because we couldn’t just give up when we got tired we had to keep on going.

I think that this helped me become a better leader and it helped me talking to new people and getting along with them it also helped me with my teamwork \

Year 5 production

This term we did a year five production with 5b i was the governor of South Australia. My scenes were with the other governors. I was in 7 scenes the other governors were Nik Paige Cristiano Harvey Dillon and Christian. I think that Harvey was really good at governor Phillip because he had a lot of lines but he still did really well.

My favourite part was the cricket match because Henry parks and queen victoria died it was really funny when they got dragged off the stage because Kobe was moving when he was dead.

The PLAs we used were resilience because some people were nervous but they got on with it and did really well.

I think Hannah was the best because she was really into her character and had a lot of expressions. One of her lines were stroo crikey Doolie mate ya nearly gave me a heart attack.

My first line was a group line so all the governors would split up but I would say rough lot.

My favourite part that I was in was when I stopped Paige at the South Australia border and had to look through her bag wile Dillon was selling apples to Cristiano.

The music that m.r barker played at the start for all the brides to come on were old 1850s songs

During the rehearsals we had a lot of people that were helping us to get the play perfect it took us about three weeks we had miss ingles helping us and telling us to have more energy and acting our character not ourselves.

In our matinee we stuffed up some of our lines because the other classes got more time to practise in a dress rehearsal we only but in the real play we did really well and didn’t stuff it up at  all.

I have a question for you do you want to be in a play?

Best book chat book

Stella by starlight author Sharon M. Draper

Genre adventure

This book is about a African girl that lives in America and she sees the klu klux clan that is burning down their cross and she thinks it is the white people living on the other side of town.

The white and the black people are both segregated this means that they can,t live with each other or go to the same school. The only time the kids see each other is when they go past the lollie shop on there way to school.

The white people have way more power and money and they hate Africans and some of them at

Are part of the klu Klux clan. My favourite part was when the klu Kurt clan burnt down some of Stella’s good friends house and everyone including some of the white people because they thought segregation is not a good thing.

I enjoyed this book because it helped me learning about history and what it was like back then.and the story was really fun to read and it made me feel empathy for Stella and the people in her town.

Looking at my blog post do you think you what to read this book?

My family celebrates Christmas on Christmas we decorate the house with red and green lights and we go to the snow every year and build 3 snowmen for each of me my brother and my sister and me .

We put the Christmas tree up and we watch Christmas movies until 12.00

In the morning I gong racing to the tree and look at all the presents and then I wake my family up and then we open the presents my sister usually gets me lots of Christmas lollies then my relatives come over and we have pork belly for lunch. We also get everyone a present and after that they leave and we have a break before we go on a yearly Holliday. Some of the Places we go to are a America and Byron bay we also go to my beach house in Blairgowrie I invite friends to come stay with me.

On Boxing Day we go get our shopping because there is always a sale at the supermarket on Boxing Day. We take down the Christmas tree and decorations and pack our bags for a Holliday.

After we pack and get ready for our Holliday I just relaxe with my family.

Easter time

On Easter we get our family to come over to our beech house to spend a couple days there we do a eater egg hunt and I’m almost to old to do it now my little cousins go crazy my cousin Ben always gets the most eggs and brags about it but he thinks I’m the best cousin so he gives me some of his. My other cousin Buddy never gets any but we all are our eggs with each other.

We also go to the beach and walk to the peer and jump off.we see a lot of stingrays and one was bigger than a car. My little cousins are a bit scared to jump off the peer because they think they are going to die but they end up doing it and have a lot of fun

Birthday time on birthdays we get them a special present that they really want and they have a party which is just having friends over to hang out. After dinner we get a fancy cake and the birthday boy/girl gets two pieces.

Sovereign hill reflection

Sovereign hill reflection

Six weeks ago I went to Sovereign Hill for three days with all the year 5 students and teachers. We went on a bus for one and a half hours. We went to Sovereign Hill because the year 5 students were learning about the gold rush. This experience helped us understand what it was like in the 1850s and how people lived. We had to be resilient on this trip because of the cold and rainy weather.

I learned a lot about Australian history. One of the things that I discovered was the Eureka Stockade in 1854. The Eureka Stockade was when miners had to pay to mine in Ballarat. However, the miners didn’t want to spend their money because they wanted to get richer.

When someone would find gold they would scream ‘Eureka!!’because Eureka means ‘I’ve found something’. The eureka stockade was on December 3rd and the battle went for 20 minutes only. The battle occurred because miners didn’t like the law so they built a Stockade and created the Eureka flag to resist. Many people died in the battle because they were passionate about their right to mine and wanted to fight for it.

Another thing that I learned was how the kids got treated at schools back then. The teachers were not very nice back then and they would use the cane when students did something wrong. This makes me grateful for my teachers because they are very caring. I used my imagination a lot because I had to picture what it really like for students back in the Gold rush because nowadays, teachers are not  allowed  use the cane anymore.

Overall I had a great experience at sovereign hill because I got to learn about the 1850s and the interesting gold rush

Toona reflection

On camp we went to Toonallook for term 4 it was so fun my favourite part was the shoe game because when someone nocked over the bottle with the shoe everybody jumped out of their seats and start screaming but if we did that we would minus points. My group won because fish gave us so many extra points the score was 25 22.

The PLAs I used were communication for when we did kayaking because I had to tell my partner to turn left and right when we were going the wrong way.

The most challenging part was having a shower because the heads were to low for me and my friend because we are to tall. It was also freezing cold there was no hot water for the boys but the girls had nice showers.

On the bus on the way back to school it was so loud I couldn’t hear my bus buddy I sat next to Tom it was really fun because two year elevens came with us and one of them let me and Tom listen to music. When we got off the bus I was looking for my dad but i couldn’t find so I whent all around the school but then I went back to the bus and my dad was late when I saw him I ducked my bags in front of him at went straight into the car because I wanted to get home

Hard road ahead

My diorama reflection

This year for integrated we went to sovereign hill to see what it was like in the 1850s and we did research with our diorama partner about a building at sovereign. hill my building was the New York bakery we had to do research on this building and program a Sphero or a dash robot to go around all of sovereign hill and the robot would stop at each of the buildings and say some information about that building.

We had our parents come in to see our work and what we learned in our time in sovereign hill we all so had to write a news paper about sovereign hill. mine was called ungrateful chooks it is about 2 women complying how they can’t work and they have to look after there 8 children

A good information book has pictures to attract the reader so they want to keep reading. It needs clear information and lots of it so the reader can get a new load of information that is easy to read. diagrams for your pictures so the reader stays hooked into the book and wants to keep on reading.

My favourite shortlisted book is make believe because it has great information clear sentences and good and detailed pictures I also liked sorry day because it is about aboriginal kids getting taken away from their families and then a long time later the prime minister says sorry and all the aboriginal people  are very happy

Sovereign hill reflection

I had a fun time at sovereign hill my favourite part was buying lollies with my friends and eating them on the way back to school.

i also liked the school program because it was different to live like an 1850s kid and know what is was like there and how people were treated on the gold fields.

It was really cold in sovereign hill especially at night it was like negative 3 degrees and my cabin mate said it was hot and I thought he was crazy because everyone else in my cabin were freezing.

the positive learner attributes i used were resilience because I had to deal with the freezing weather. We also used imagination because we had to imagine what it was really like on the gold fields because it wasn’t as harsh as it was then and now.
